Monday Blogger

I think I'll start this off with a few jokes:

What do you call a Deer with no Eyes? - Noeyedeer

What do you call four bull fighters in quicksand? Quatro sinko.

Why can’t a bicycle stand on one wheel? Because it's too tired. (a.k.a. Adam's favorite joke)

A: Knock, knock
B: Who's there?
A: Control freak. Now you say, "control freak who?"

There are two fish in a tank. One looks over at the other and says “How do we drive this thing?”

I've decided that I should change the name of this blog to "The Monday Blogger," seeing as that's usually the day I find time to write anything. And seeing as the last post I wrote was about three weeks ago, well, I guess I should have a lot to write about. Let's see...

The thing that's been taking up most of my time was rehearsals for our new show, which unofficially opened this last weekend. The show is called Azul, and is supposed to be kind of a sequel to Viva. It's been a lot of work, a lot of stress, a lot of long days putting it together, but I am happy to say that our opening day shows went very well. We're in a good place with the show, but we still have room for improvement. I encourage everyone to come see it!

P.S. That's not me.

They completely redid the back wall of our stage, painted everything new, put up new banners and a whole new lighting and sound system. (The dolphins aren't sure what to think of the roving spotlights yet.) The costumes are very vivid this year. One might be tempted to use the word hideous when describing my particular costume...and I'd probably agree.

Definitely not flattering. See the cloaks? We have to wear those at the start of the show.

Anyway, the stress and worry should be over with for the most part now that we've had our soft open. Our grand opening will be the week of spring break.

I finished reupholstering my chair! Check it out:

(It's red, not pink, in case you were wondering.) Adam can't really fit into it, so it's been designated as my reading chair. It was quite the project! A lot of fun, and I had a great time getting to know the sister who helped me. She's close to 70 years old and is thinking about running another marathon. She ran her first on her 65th birthday. I hope I have that kind of stamina when I'm that age!

As for my other project, my temple quilt, let's just say that it's been put on hold. I need some expert advice from people who know what they're doing to finish it!

Adam and I went to the San Antonio rodeo this year with some friends from church. After frantically racing home from work, eating dinner in the car, and pushing driving restictions to their limits, we ended up at the rodeo an hour earlier than it started. Oops. Now we know to look at the actual ticket for the start time. At least we didn't miss anything! It was the first rodeo Adam has been to, and he really liked it. I told him that if we were going to make it a yearly tradition we needed to invest in some boots and hats to blend in with the crowd.

Tried a new recipe. Actually, I've tried lots of new recipes lately, trying to change up my dinner line-up, but this is the only picture I have.

Cranberry Orange Scones

Yum.

While I don't have pictures of it, I tried out two new fondue recipes that are absolutely delicious! We had these at our RS monthly meeting, and had a grand ol' time swapping stories around the chocolate pots. If you want the recipe for Dark Chocolate Raspberry or Caramel fondue, let me know.

You are my favorite Monday Blogger! :) Great jokes, and a beautiful chair!!

Those costumes are....um interesting..are they orange? I do want to come see you this year. The back drop looks fantastic.

I definitely want your recipes for your fondue -maybe I would actually use our pot and David can stop making fun of me for holding onto it-. I hope you have a great week. And I hope you both feel better.

LOVED your updates Val. Your new Aqua outfit would look hideous on anyone else, but you pull it off and make it look good ;). Those scones look delicious, your chair looks incredible (I have no idea where to even start with reupholstering) and yes please to the fondue recipes!!! Oh and the rodeo looked like tons of fun, I agree on the cowboy/boots part ;) Yea for your Monday posts! They brighten my day and I love catching up on what y'all are up to. Cool chair. I wish I could do that to a couple of my chairs. And you definitely need to send some recipes.
Loved talking to you!

Yup, that was my curtain fabric. Too bad I didn't know to keep it, you could have had scarf-like curtains to match, lol! Though that may have been TOO much.

I can't wait to try that recipe! Or the molten chocolate cake one from the site. =)

And I think your costumes still beat the ones at the show we saw in Orlando. But yes . . . interesting! Love ya!
